TEKNATOOL - NOVA NEBULA DVR lathe

The new NOVA lathe from TEKNATOOL with many practical details and the tried and tested DVR drive concept.

No belt shifting and optimal power development even at low speeds thanks to the DVR direct drive. The headstock can be rotated and moved. All important components (bench bed, substructure, headstock, tailstock and lower part of the hand rest) are made of solid gray cast iron.

Details on the DVR drive:

The special thing about this unique drive concept is the Digital Variable Reluctance (DVR) motor built into the headstock with direct drive and extremely gentle yet powerful power transmission to the spindle.
The system ensures the best possible power on the spindle, especially at low speeds, which makes it easier to machine large and/or unbalanced workpieces.
Since there is no belt installed, there is no need to preselect a speed range by shifting such a belt and there is no loss of power, as is the case with many other machines.

The user interface of the digital display can be set to German, English or French and is very user-friendly and logically structured.

The spindle speed can be controlled or adjusted using the rotary/push button on the control panel of the headstock or the rotary button on the mobile magnetic control box:

  • When adjusting the speed on the headstock, a distinction is made between quick adjustment (pressing the speed button while turning) and fine adjustment (turning the speed button without pressing it).
  • The magnet control box is programmed as a "slave" of the control panel on the headstock. The speed can be adjusted using the rotary knob in steps of 20 or 50 rpm (depending on the speed). The magnetic control box also has the "ON" function (switch on by pressing the "ON" button for 2 seconds) and an EMERGENCY STOP function (EMERGENCY STOP mushroom button with locking function).

All other functions are controlled and set via the control panel on the headstock:

  • A total of 8 speeds are preset and can be selected directly or reprogrammed as desired. This significantly increases the comfort when working.
  • The individual functions are acoustically underlined and thus promote the intuitive operation of the machine and ensure additional safety, for example when switching from forward to reverse.
  • The machine has a vibration sensor function, which switches off the machine in the event of strong vibrations for the safety of the user (can be preset in 3 levels, depending on requirements and the nature of the workpiece).
  • A timer function makes it easier to dry a processed workpiece - the surface of the workpiece dries evenly through the rotary movement, the machine switches itself off after the preset time.
  • An idle detection switches the machine off after a few minutes of idling - this prevents the machine from running unattended for a long time.
  • The braking force when switching off the machine can be set individually via the menu.
  • The type of cut can be preselected via the speed diagram (e.g. roughing) and the recommended speed can be controlled directly, which can then be adjusted using the speed controller.
  • The font size on the main display can be switched between "normal" and "large".
  • The lathe can be locked with a password to prevent unauthorized use.
  • The machine is de-energized via the main switch.
